That doesn't sound surprising to me. Same thing happened to me when I switched tips. I don't think I had quite a 3" drop at 30, but it wasn't at all what I wanted. I switched right back to 100 grain tips (then I switched to 50 grain glue in tips). It's not like I need a top of penetration for deer anyway.
