After not having much luck calling anything in at night time, I decided to head to the farm for a late afternoon-evening hunt.
Only problem was, I had to leave at 6:00 to make dinner plans. errr, 6:00 was right at dusk when critters start moving.
I sat up in the top of the barn overlooking the fields. I used a mouse distress on a remote electronic call every 30 minutes or so, starting at 4:30pm.
Later, around 5:15 the deer started moving. There were almost 30 deer grazing in the fields, since the timber was still covered in snow/ice. I switched to a rabbit in distress call at 5:40, making it loud, as it would be my last call for the evening. At 5:58 I decided to wrap it up and head to the truck, when I caught a fox running in across the field. I hit the call again, and he stopped in the field to take a glance. My .204 did a wonderful job, dropping him. I later ranged the distance from the fox to the barn at 186yards.
I was a little later to dinner, but it was a great evening. I was suprised in the pelt damage done by the 32grain .204, but that's because of the Vmax bullet...
So, onto the picture: He's an average sized male. It's not the best picture, and I'm not in it, but I didn't have my tripod or anybody to snap a picture...
