That is not true know one installs a brake for less then $150.00, I charge $165.00 MAG-NA-PORT charges $189.99, this includes a thread protector SO YES A BRAKE CAN BE REMOVED! And yes it can cut the recoil down by half the larger the caliber the better, almost all gunsmiths install muzzle brakes and with 52 different designs on the market it can become confusing, they work and because of the reduction of recoil your group size will shrink because your not afraid of pulling the trigger.
If it kicks, get the brake! you will not regret it!
