I would say because hunters arguably have done more for conservation and habitat improvement than anyone out there. Groups such as the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, National Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Trout Unlimited, and others have spent millions to improve wildlife habitat nationwide and to boost wildlife population numbers. For example: Since the 1950s, the turkey population in the US has grown from 1.5 million to 5 million due largely in part because of the work of the NWTF.
