I am assuming by reading your original post that the only change made was to reduce the number of bucksavailable from 3-2. Is that correct? If so, yes they may takena stepto increase the amount of mature deer.
Now, If they have also recently moved the gun season into the rut then i would agree with you that this is not going to do it.
You're correct the only change made was to reduce the combined (ML, Gun, Bow seasons) bag limit to 2 bucks. I spoke with the DOW this morning to find out if the results were completed for this year's harvest. He said they were not complete but so far the difference in the number of bucks taken was negligeable at best. He personally felt that becasue very few people killed three bucks in a season anyway (in previous years), that the law change was not effective. As I said in the first post, I'm a 100% advocate of allowing fewer bucks to be killed. At the same time, it doesn't help if people are still killing young deer (which is I why I said that I'm in favor of antler restrictions as well).

they only get a few weeks. You said it for me... it gives people the best chance to take a deer with a gun. Why? Because the BUCKS are more vulnerable, therefore it's not helping bucks mature.
How does it help the deer if there is no gun hunting during the rut if you can still get three deer It makes it more difficult... to kill those three deer, does it not???
how about making gun season the same time as bow season. say 4 to 6 months of all hunting

you guys make me sick sometimes people gun hunting have as much right to hunt as we bow hunters Let's talk about Texas. Their gun season runs one month shorter than bow season... That's wonderful! I don't have a problem with that, but the TPWD never publishes stuff about trying to increase the number of mature deer either.
