I would highly recommend the Sony PD-170. Very durable camera that can take some beautiful footage when operated correctly! You can pick one up new for around $3,000.00 and used for between $2,000-2,400.00.

Spend the rest of you're money on a Sennheiser Wireless ($550.00), a good camera arm ($250.00-500.00), Camera Head ($100-180.00), a rain cover ($100.00), and a good tri-pod ($150.00). This will get you what you need to take good footage with good audio.

Also - the Sony is 10x easier to operate than the Canon's (IMO). Very common sence set-up!
