Actually, the word sophisticated when used in this context means: (1) not in a natural, pure, or original state. (2) deprived of native or original simplicity: (a) highly complicated or developed : "COMPLEX" as in sophisticated electronic devices.

If we apply (1) then everything is sophisticated, but when we take (2) into consideration it makes a distinction between those things that still retain the simplistic designs and those things that dont.

If our ancestors were here, would they choose the more sophisticated over their crude weapons? I think they would. That is until they could no longer get them to work, then they'd go back to the equipment that works and has proven itself over thousands of years. They would also see that when a piece of equipment replaces the natural ability of the human, the human becomes weaker. Eventually losing that which was inherent or natural to them.
