if its your first time trout fishing and you dont know mush about it id say you cang beat a spinning rod and a nightcrawler piece drifting by....ive seen guys kill them using a minnow....rooster tails adn panther martins also work pretty good....i love trout fishing....i got to wait until like april 13th or something like that!!!! good luck....im a live bait guy mostly..but this year im thinking of making the switch...i want a trout on a fly...ive caught bass and panfish...just never that trout....guess i have to try to catch them lol...i definently think learning where the fish are with live bait is much easier than with a fly rod...they might be there just odnt like your fly and you will never know...alot of times if they are there one usually takes live bait if presented right and the bait is one they want.....good luck
