9.8 gpi is a good hunting weight. You have enough weight for efficient energy transfer, and it's not so heavy that it's completely robbing you of speed. There is always a compromise between speed and energy; you just have to find your happy medium. If you are looking for a 3D bow, I would go lighter. I use the same set up for 3D as I hunt with. My arrows are right at 10 gpi, with a 460 gr total finished weight. This is typically too heavy for 3D, but I like to shoot what I hunt with so that there are no surprises when it really counts.
