I have 2- 870 pump's. One in 12ga and one in 20ga. I use the 12 and my daughter uses the 20. I just added a Sims recoil pad and fiber optic site and sling to heres and she loves it. She is 15 and maybe 115 lbs. I got it at walmart a couple years ago and had it fully set up for around $250. I have used it and would hunt with it any time. I just like my 12, but the 20 works just as well and actually has less kick. Both shoot 2.75 or 3" shells and have an extra full choke on a 20" barrel. I also like that they are both short barreled, which makes it easy to run-n-gun with them if the need arises.
