Default RE: deer numbers in PA

ORIGINAL: sproulman

my only disagreement with you is you think everything is ROSY and like what is happening with our hunting here on stateforestland in wmu2g.

maybe being you hunt on lease land or privateland, you dont see what is happening.

we get doe season stopped here in WMU2G for 1 week, you disagree.

its funny how some people like you think they know what is REALLY happening in WMU2G even tho you dont hunt here, live here, fish, born here...

you are entiled to your opinion even tho you are wrong on most ,not all, but most.

your thinking is correct for area you hunt on, like privateland with lots of deer and control over hunters.
but your world is not real world that most of us here in WMU2G are experiencing..

your KOOKY comments are welcome, hey i make 1 once in awhile, but try to be more OPEN with your comments..
we all have opinions on here and just because you kill a nice buck on privateland DOES NOT make you expert on what is happening on publicland here in WMU2G.

OK here we go

My position on the management of your hunting area (2G), since I dont know it well and dont hunt there, is to trust the judgement of the people whose job it is to manage the deer herd within it's habitat.

You obviously have ignored a fact I've stated many times here. Ihave a camp and do a lot of public land hunting in 2F, a lot of which appears to be somewhat similar to much of the habitat in 2G. I have seen a drastic improvement in the quality of the deer herd on the public land I hunt in 2F. Your arguement that I only hunt private land is full of holes.

Now, close to my home, I hunt private land because that's pretty much all there is. What I've also said many timesbefore, is that much of the private land I hunt close to homeis unposted and wide open to public hunting. Some of my best bucks have come fromthat open"private land"
I do also have some private honey holes where very few can get in to but thats not my only hunting or even the big majority of it. One of myprivate honey holes is 5 acres that does happen to be posted but I hunt within a bow shot of the property line which borders more private, but open, land.
My perspective on deer management comes from all of my hunting experiences, not just my private land hunting.

I am neutral on the change to 2G (and 2D where I often hunt) not against it. I actually think it's a good idea to at least see how the harvest changes with the proposed new season in those areas.

You are correct that we all have a right to an opinion. My problem with most of your posts is the way you try to portray hunters in your corner of Pennsylvania. You've repeatedly made absolutely outrageous claims of massive poaching and illegal shenanigans in your area. If we take your word for it, everyone who comes to your area is an outlaw. If even half of it were true, you'd have proof but your posts are always lacking in that department. The "I heard it at the bar from a guy who knows the guys cousin and you can count on it" stories you come up with are beyond belief. Most times I can just blow it off when you do it, but when I see new guys and guys from other states buying intoone or your loads of crap, I realize that your rants are damaging to all PA hunters. Thats tends to get me fired up.

If you really turned in every violation you claim to have witnessed or "know" to be absolutely true, the WCO's in 2G would never have time to sleep and the PGC would needto call in major reinforcements.

Maybe if you stopped trying to sensationalize everything, someone might listen. I cant take credit for the following quote but it certainly fits most of your posts:

"I've told you a million times, don't exaggerate"
