RE: Where should hunting be headed?
Every Area is different.....
My Province hasAntler restrictions season and animal sex restrictions,as well as a general season and LEH..
Game pops are stable and quality of trohies are stable..
But most important of all, in my area of the country,Antler restrictions after a period of time give an area a very highmale to female ratio..
Which is ultimately what you want...
The problem we are starting to face now is whitetail deer in mule deer territory..
Nothing against the whitetail, but whern they breed with mulies the offspring is sterile..
So this is starting to be a concern to hunters, and wildlife managers........
The first thing that has to be done, is find out what animals can coexist with one another without hindering the future ofany species...
Some areas, have to have Sunday hunting ban lifted, to get
their animal pops under control..
Some areas are soover populated, honestly some of you people should be allowed to hunt all year..
Have a 4 month muzzle season, bow season and shot gun season..
DO whatever it takes to get controlled numbers of all species of all big game animals in a particular area first..
Do to the animals, what fisheries do in British Columbia, poison a lake, kill off everything, than throw the fish you want in there......
"Don't forget game have no boarders, so even if ya have to shoot bucks does whatever to get the pop down in an area , more will move in...There might be a chance that they'll be does at first, but over a small amount of time, bucks will wonder in and breed eventually, They'll just be in controlled numbers."
After that then implement than Antler restriction sex restrictions etc..
If you do it this way and shoot everything first, instead of shooting just does and leaving bucks and fawns, you'll hunting quality will improve faster....
