Well I finally spoke to the shop owner and he is willing to swap for something comparable to the Ruger if he has it in stock. As the Ruger is a plain synthetic stocked rifle (inexpensive) and was purchased at cost, my options will be limited. I don' t have much extra money to add to get something better and still get a scope and trigger work if need (the Rugers trigger was a bit sloppy). I don’t need or want a varmint gun because I already have a .222 and 6mm. I also have a .308 lever action and a 32 Winchester special. I mostly hunt Mulies with an occasional Elk. I was leaning toward the .270 WSM to get a little extra reach but Ruger does not chamber this round. Depending on what the shop has in stock I might get a 7mm Mag (this being about as powerful as I want to get). If “cost” of the Winchester is comparable to the Ruger I think I will try working that deal and get the 270 WSM. Decisions, decisions…
