hey bamahuntin this is a touchy subject,but I will give you my 2cents worth.In our side of the country you probably wont need the extra range and velocity so the 223 is a very good choice,ammo cost about half as much or less than the 22-250.Every coyote I have taken with my 223 hasn't had a lot of fur damage I like 55grn softpoint,some of the V-max bullets do more damage,the 22-250 is also a great caliber but not needed around here due to the shorter ranges.Both are very accurate in all types of modern rifles.hope this helps.
