Default RE: what you think?

Here in Iowa many cities allow bow hunting in areas where the hunter can be at least 200 feet from an occupied building. The hunter must obtain permits by showing proof of past success, taking a shooting and safety course, hunt from elevated stands, and have the land owner's permission. The hunts are for does only but the municipalities can issue buck tags after a hunter has shot so many does. The hunts are part of the general bow seasons and can end earlier if the kill quota is reached. I'm not certain but I think the hunters pay a permit fee in addition to normal state licensing.

This seem to work pretty well here in the metropolitan Des Moines area.

All of this being said, I think it really is stupid to pay a pest control company to do what equally qualified citizens would gladly PAY to do. They want the deer dead but it is horrible that someone would actually want to go hunting. They cannot have that.

Iowa City, Iowa, also pays a pest firm to shoot deer. They do it at night , with spotlights, and silencers, at an expense of many tens of thousands of dollars each year. Iowa City is Iowa's left wing hot spot. There are still very many citizens and students who would PAY to hunt these deer.

I THINK THAT THIS IS A HORRID, LEFT WING, POLITICALLY CORRECT, WASTE OF PUBLIC TREASURE AND AN INTENTIONAL SLAP AT SPORT HUNTERS AND A WASTE OF A VALUABLE RESOURCE.
