Default RE: Are the PA junior hunter antler restrictions being abused by adults?

first, the people that are doing this antler thingare not slimeballs, they are average hunter, could be your neighbor.

first, there are very few deer left here in WMU2G.
now, you have kids along ,lets use crew for example.
its raining at about 4 pm,kids have not seen deer all day,now out walks a spike buck to adult..

you think he is going to let that buck walk?no way!

remember, you are trying to keep kids interested..

isnt it funny out of 15 hunters in crew,4 are kids for example and guess who gets the 4 bucks for that day.
is it just luck that those 4 buck came out to those 4 kids?

i had reports of adults shooting at spike bucks, this was reported by many at camps, they saw it last year.

these crews had kids with them too, when i say kid ,i mean under 16 years old.

did you know some even carry hacksaws so they can cut horns off deer to make it look like doe?

this was reported also to PGC.this was seen by hunter who reported it and kids were standing there watching it as horns were sawed off.

what are they learning.

you cant leave loop hole open like this and expect it to work, it wont.

like 7 year old girl here that got a nice big buck.
she was asked what she used to shoot buck, she said a WEE-0-8,right.....

is this widespread,YOU BET IT IS only because of 3 things, keeping kids interested and lack of deer and filling tags..

if there were lots of bucks, it could work but most are not going to let the few buck walk with kids to keep interested hunting....

the only way to stop this maddness is to only allow a kid to shoot a buck under 3 points, his or her first year at 12 yrs old.

as for mentoured program, let kid hunt with dad but no shooting until he/she is 12 yrs old.

to tell me a 7 yr old girl is using a WEE-0-8 to harvest a huge buck, you cant convince ole sproul..

another thing, how many of you are even SEEING these young kids out in woods at 7 yrs old?
i am not but i am hearing they are getting their buck.

if adults woud play by rules,i would be first to push this program and stand behind it.

heck,we have 5 kids we take out each year, none, i repat none got a buck this year..
4 of us saw 3 small buck but did not shoot them..

then in came crew 2 days later with kids, i believe they had around 4 kids..

isnt it funny thatcrew got all 3 of those small buck, must be kids were in right place at right time..

could happen but i am not convinced...

another thing, the doe season should not be mixed with buck season.
if person, adult or kid kills a buck and has doe tag, he will shoot any deer on next one, knowing that he has kids in crew that can tag it or adult that can tag it,so hunter may shoot 2 buck, maybe 3 buck, who knows.

having doe season seperate would reduce this ..

but remember, PGC/DCNR is out to reduce deer herds way down..

making these rules like they are ,its going to continue..
