From a mechanic that worked on both of them, I was steered toward Yamaha over Honda, and I've known many guys with trouble free Yamaha's. The Yamaha Big Bear 400 is a great utility quad. Honda's are good too, and you'd be surprised how much power that little 221cc motor has in a Recon. Whatever you get, maintain it well, and you should get many years of good use out of it, they are all made pretty well nowadays.
