Default RE: WTB: Franchi AL48 20 ga. Barrel

Slim Pickin, No luck finding a barrel yet? They are hard to come by. Look in ShotgunWorld.com under the Franchi section. A year ago I was looking for one, never found it, but really didn't need it. Two years ago Iwas going to buy a new 48 AL 20ga with 24" barrel for grouse hunting. When I went to my gunshop, I found a used a 48AL 20 ga. with 3" chamber, 24" barrel. The gun was ingood condition, metal was almost excellent except for the barrel being shorten and rear stock. According to the proof marks it was built in 1963 . The barrel said full choke so I gave it to my gunsmith to open it up to IC for grouse hunting. He gave it back saying the barrel had been cut to 24" and it was full choke 16 ga. Overbored. It took some doing but I finally found a company who could install screw-in chokes, Angle Port. Also the rear stock was a mess, someone did a poor job of putting a recoil pad on. I gave it to Gander Mountain to install a new black recoild pad and re-finished both rear and fore stocks. It now shoots great and is a delight to carry.
