Use a padded rest for the rifle, so that it can recoil freely. I tried that Caldwell "Lead Sled", and while it tames recoil for sure, the point of impact of a rifle can be quite different when using one of those, vs using a regular sandbag rest!
you're not going to use a lead sled out in the field, so why use one sighting in your gun? i would think a sand bag would replicate shooting condition in the field more accurately. like others have suggestion, you should try different ammo. it can make a huge difference! also, do make sure your barrel doesn't get too hot.
