First things first here is a "rough" run down on things you will need and their cost:

1. Hunter Safty Course $ depends on state
2. Hunting License $35
3. Hunting Land / Lease $depends on your situation
4. Rifle $200
5. Scope $150
5. General Gear (ammo etc.) $100
4. Camo clothing $50
5. Bucket to sit on $7

Granted this is just a minimum list getting sale price on items and lower end gear. It doesn't include climbing stands or feeders or scentlock anything or boots or jackets or scent products or gear bags or the extra rifle we just had to have or wife's permission (although nobody would admit they needed that) But if you get the stuff on the list then you should be about ready to go kill something somewhere. As a note on the rifle thing I'd go ahead and get either a .308, .270, or .30-06 as a main rifle. Once you have that you can hunt prety much anything.
