Phone check in. This state requires you check it in whole and in the county or adjacent. What a pain. I don't even know where they are away form home. Getting out of the woods late and trying to find a place is stupid and a huge waste of time and money these days.
Terrible idea, IMO. A phone in would lead to people not checking in at all. The whole deer is a pain when you can't quarter it to get it out. All the check in stations are listed in the regs book, so you don't have to know where they are. You also do not have to check them in until the next day, so I don't understand the problem there either.
I honestly feel like Ohio does a pretty good job managing its herd. Especially with the new antlerless bonus tags for archery season. I do not like the extra gun season weekend though, but at least it is post rut.
Now Indiana, that is a state that is all screwed up. Gun season during the rut, followed directly by muzzleloader season. 3 solid weeks of some sort of gun season. Then they complain about the lack of big bucks and license sales going down[:-] Then in the late season, there is just a week where you can't hunt at all. What the heck is that all about?
