The mag tube will turn a quarter turn left as viewed from the action end and the sliding pin will keep it from turning back .
The mag tube must be pushed all the way downto its stop .My dad has one that the mag plunger touches first and requires a little pressure to seat , darned thing came back from Winchester that way in '69.
