I will add

In areas with a lot of pressure I am covinced a mature buck has multiple "core" areas that are spread apart a lot further than a lot of us know.

Why are you convinced of this? I would think the complete opposite to be true. The more pressure, the smaller a mature bucks core area would be. They have people patterned and know which small peice they are safe in.

Maybe I'm wrong.
They go further away to where we are not.Might be the way SLP is made up. Small seperate wood lots.
Just my theory a mature pressured buck will do must of his breeding at night when he's pressured, he runs back to his safe zone when the pressure is on. This zone is further away than must think IMO. Hell I might be wrong, I have caught a couple trying to get back to the zone. Stayed out to late. I have also seen them crossing the highway about5 miles from where i hunt at 5:00 AM in the morning.

Dan in MI when I see a mature buck alone during the rut he has a frantic pace. Like a kid who got caught out to late. In 2003 and 2004 I had the same buck run by me twice. He was by himself and was moving. I watch him cross the river and away he went.

A friend hunts a place with very little pressure. The mature bucks just come from everywhere once the pressure hits around him.

I think they have a safe zone, andonce the pressure hits them,is where they go.
