RE: 4 wheeler activity
I guess where we hunt the birds are pretty use to them. I couldn' t hunt if I didn' t have mine (bad back). I do all my scouting off mine and it' s not unsual to get within 50-100 feet from them. The thing is not to push them wheather on a 4 wheller of on foot. They usually just walk away from me feeding and talking as they go. I was scouting day before yesterday and found 12 good gobblers, they wern' t the least bit concerned, until a pick up pulled up behind me, it didn' t really scare them but they did leave pretty quickly. If I didn' t have mine I couldn' t even get to where I hunt. I had 5 tree blow downs in the first mile of the road. The Forest Service will cut these out in time. It' s done on their own schedule and the roads can be blocked for weeks. Last year we had 50mph winds during the season. If not for the 4 wheelers we would not have been able to hunt for most of the season. Use them as a tool, no hot dogging or running up the road at 40mph and you should be ok. I usually run no faster than 10mph while scouting or hunting.
