These are results from the same question ask on a forum of North American Hunting Club please allow some fudging by "rounding-in" the short mags into long cartridges and the like.

Even though243 was suppose to be a given, when 3 othercalibers were given, I counted them.
I did not include the shotgun selections as that was not the question.

Not surprising 30-06 was #1 with 12 votes
#2 was 300 win, etc. with 10 votes
#3 22 was the #1 vote getter on the lite side with 8 votes
#4 338 got 6 votes and there was 6 votes for various T/C's
#5 the 50 got 5 votes
I was surprised that 270 only got 4 votes #6 tied with 7MM
22-250 only got 3 votes but that placed it #2 on the lite side
also surprising was 223, and 30-30only got one vote
the little 17 got two votes and 280 got two votes
