Default Visited an old hunter today

I did some volunteer work today at a nursing homefor a class i have in school. It was my first day and i went around meeting new people. When i found out this older gentleman use to hunt, he of course was the first one i wanted to visit with. I would say he was in his mid 80's to 90's. We got to talking and he told me how he loved deer hunting and use to do it in his younger years. He said back in the 1960's he and his father and two sons would pack up the old model A and head to colorado. He told me how he shot 2 deer one year, one was a doe and the other was a 14 point buck. He was pretty proud because no one else shot a deer. He said he took it home and got it made into a coat for his wife. Unfortunately he had to stop hunting because his wife was diagnosed with MS.
This really brought things into perspective for me because every so often i would take for granite the time in the woods. He just lit up with happiness when i told him about the first deer i shot with a bow this year. We shared stories about hunting and before i knew it my time was up and i had to leave. I could just tell it made his day when i came in and talked to him because at the end he said how he gets really lonely and really enjoys when he has someone to talk to. He said he couldnt wait for me to come on friday.

So guys if you have theopportunity to talk to old time hunters i would not pass it up..you will make new friends and hear some great stories!
