Default RE: Bears

I presume you are interested in going after blackies? It' s hard to judge with small things like looking for small ears or ears far apart on the bears head if you don' t have much to judge by. I shot the first bear I saw on my first trip out, and I thought he was a monster! He turned out at 6' square and barely made the P&Y minimum, but from different angles it looks like he has large ears (sign of a small bear) and at other angles it looks like his ears are small. On the same account it looks at some angles like his ears are close together, while at other angles they appear to be far apart.

We did see some monster bears on our hunt, a couple easily over 7 feet. You will know a big bear when you see one, that is for certain. Here' s a couple different angles of my spring 2002 bear. If I saw a bear this size again, I wouldn' t hesitate to take him.
