I had a mixed bird dog mostly setter and a little pointer that worked out really great. It wasfar more fun than hunting the conventional way and was extra special since I had worked with him to make him a turkey dog. He busted his first flock on the very first day that we hunted when he was only 13 months old. He hunted maybe another 2 years with my brother and I and broke flocks for us. Unfortunately he got epilepsy and we battled that for apprx. 15 months before his seizures were too bad. We had him on mega dosages of meds. and they still occurred. The vet said that setters especially those with Irish setter in them are prone to epilepsy. We didn't hunt turkeys his last fall because of his sickness. I sure do miss him.
