I was wondering whether anyone ever tried shooting a .451 200 grain 45 Auto Gold Dot in a .50 sabot from a .50 caliber 1/66 twist muzzleloader barrel? I was checking out the Green Hill formula and noticed the maximum bullet length for a 1/66 twist is .568; the 200 grain Gold Dot is .565 so it should stabilize. Should be a bit more energy than a roundball and a bit flatter. Just curious if anyone one else thought about it or tried it.
No, but I sure would like to hear of someone trying it. I know it works in a 300g with a 1:48 at least at 50 yards with open sights. Chap Gleason
