Default RE: CVA Buckhorn Magnum questions

ORIGINAL: lswoody

I bought one of these and really like it. I killed a big doe with it on my second hunt with it using the open sights that come on it. Got a 4X scope for Christmas and sighted-in today. This thing is really a tack driver now but there's a few things that I don't like about it that I didn't realize until I put the scope on. The first thing is with the scope on it, you don't have as much room to work with when putting the 209 primer. The cap for the side to side adjustment cuts down on the room. That's not a big deal though. The second thing is with the firing mechanism being like it is, (I guess it is considered an open breech???) the bottom of the scope getssome black sut and all on itfrom the primers. Is there anyway to prevent this????? Was thinking of putting some black electrical tape on the bottom of the scope to take care of it. Any other ideas???? Another thing I don't like is with the scope on it, it is a little awkward when I clean it. But again, no big deal. But I really do love this gun and I bought it for $90 brand new. I could have spent more and not had to contend with these small issues, but unless I have some major problems I don't see myself getting anything else. Thanks!!!!!!

Scott, You can buy some quick detachable rings and take your scope off the barrel when you clean it.
