Default Acrylic lacquer on stock

If this is the wrong forum, please redirect. I have been reading about the use of automotive top coat/clear coat for finishing stocks. I have done the Tru Oil thing and it works great but I dont like the ambering which changes the color of laminate. It made my gray/black laminate look green. Finish is great and it is easy to work with but dont like the color change.

Regular lacquer is an option but not sure about the durability. Alot of stocks are finished this way but I think it is product with a hardner in it. The automotive product sounds interesting since it is an exterior finish. Also it seems like it would be handy to procure in a spray can. Anybody used the automotive product? If so what do you think?
