Default RE: Introduction

Keep in mind that I am not saying that poodles are better then another dog. I like all dogs. The poodle was actually the first dog ever bred to hunt. The link tells the history.

I will be using him to hunt everything. Poodles are very easy to train. Poodles feel out of favor in the 1700's because their fur was harder to maintain. Then the spaniel became popular. Some people breed hunting poodles. Here is one I found at random. I did not get my dog from them.

Here is one mans short story about hunting with a poodle.

I am a newb. Right now I am training my dog to work as a retriever. That seems to be pretty easy. He is 3 months old and I have only had him for a week or so. Right now he is marking dummy targets and retrieving them on command. I plan on training him for turkey hunting as well this year. With a poodle you just have to give them praise. I don't use treats for anything and I don't use a shock collar. I am not saying that a poodle is the best bird dog of all time. I would say they very wellmay bethe most simple to train. Any animal encyclopedia will tell you they are the smartest of all domestic dogs. I hope that answers your questions.
