I haven't read this whole thing, but I live in SC...where Dog hunting is still legal. (for now). So this is constatly a hot topic.
In SC it is ILLEGAL to shoot someone's dog. I've seen it go to court and the judge look at the owner and ask how much he wants for the dog. Then looks at the guy who shot the dog and tell him "well, you are lucky he settled with that, if it were my dog you would be paying a lot more".
