RE: a good .22?
Don't over look the 17HM2 either. Built on a 22 stinger round but uses the lighter 17 cal bullets. They shoot faster and flater than a normal 22 lr. Yet they don't do as much damage as the 17HMR rounds.
For a clip fed semi auto the Ruger is pretty decent with a ton of after market for it. I would personally look for a bolt gun like a newer savage or something though.
The browning buckmark carbines are pretty nice as well, but a bit pricey.
