As much as I hate Tasco I put one on my 10/22 ruger. If you think about it.....its a 22. Throw a Tasco or a Simmons (3X9)on it and you'll never know the difference. Have Fun.
I hate to disagree buuuuuuuut. Just because it's a .22 doesn't mean that you have to settle for poor optics. Check out
www.rimfirecentral.com and see what people think about cheap scopes. Do a search for Mueller optics, for just a little more ($115) they make a 4.5-14x40 with an adjustable objective lens that not only corrects for parallax but it's marked for yardage. In other words focus on your target and the graduations will tell you how far your target is. I have a tasco on my 10/22 and I hate it. I use it for squirrels and I only take body shots out to 40 yards. I also have the Mueller on my Marlin 917V .17 hmr and I can hit a squirrel in the head at over 100 yards. Granted the .22 long rifle is no match for the .17 hmr but there's no reason that you can't take a head shot on a squirrel out to 75 yards, especially if you know the distance to your target.
