Default RE: Has anyone tried Chufa?

chufas are primarily planted for turkeys. the seed is a first cousin to the nutgrass weed. in the south we plant our chufas by july 4th, the green tops can grow to a heigth of three to four feet.the tuber grows in the ground and this is what is consumed by the wild turkey in the fall and winter.the chufas need to be planted in sandy soil so that the tubers will multiply better and so that the turkeys can scratch them up. two disadvantages cost-50lb bag $100-150.also when a flock of turkeys find your plot of chufas than can completely scratch up the complete plot in days.
