RE: Snort wheeze
I have never heard a short wheeze other than on TV. And I hunt a lot. I have no doubt that they make that sound, though, just not that often. I rarely even hear a deer grunt and when I do they are very close and usually you can barely hear it.
One thing I did hear this year that was different was a doe grunting. The first time was when a fawn came in below my stand and I could hear a deer several yards away and I could see it was a doe. Then I heard a lot of grunting and was sure there was a buck grunting at the doe. The doe came in and I just sat waiting for the buck which never showed up. Two other times I saw that fawn and doe and each time the doe would grunt every few seconds. Sadly for the doe, the last time I saw her, I put an arrow through her and she grunts no more.
