Moose are often not impressed no matter what they are hit with. They usually don't go far after a good hit but seldom drop at the shot. I have seen them well hit with 300 and 338 Win Mags without showing any signs of being hit.
This is true. I hit a cow in newfoundland with a 300RUM, and she acted drunk for a few seconds, and started feeding again. Then came down like a load of bricks taking 6" spruces with her.
I have never got to take a running shot on moose, or shoot a spooked moose. Usually if they get spooked, they run to the next town in seconds.
