Does anyone shoot a Thompson Center "Firestorm" Flintlock?
Maybe you could share a preferred load of powder and if you use a roundball what type along with the patch? I have heard pillow ticking works well.
Trying to get the gun ready for the late season here in PA after Christmas. I'm just not happy with what I was getting at the range with 100 grains of 2F Goex powder and the Powerbelts. Also tired of paying out the nose for them when I can get 100 roundballs for $14.00.
I have a TC Hawken FL and hunt in PA late season also.I shoot 80g of Goex 3f, with crushed rib sabot and Speer Gold Dot 300g. It is a good combo under50 yards. The Gold Dots are $16 for 50 at MidSouth Shooter's Supply:

here is the Crushed Rib:

I would drop the powder down, to 70 or 80g of 2f or 3f Goex and then work up. 50 cal patched round ball, just doesn't have enough mass for me, and that limits penetration, they are very accurate in my gun, but accurate is NOT the whole story in late season on drives, the deer are moving quickly, sometimes running at close range and a strong accurate bullet will put them down. The .54 is a lot better on mass. I am think of gettingeither a TC Renegade .54 or a Lyman Great Plains .54 just to shoot round balls. Chap Gleason
