I have a pair of " old" Darton Vipers that I really like. They have solid limbs, cast risers, and, dare I say it? two cams. EACH!
Last spring, I turned 50, so I decided I would get myself something fun to play with. I actually got 2 Mathews bows, a Q2 XL and an MQ1. They were both nice, but I could shoot better with either of the old Dartons. They were much more forgiving when I made any type of shooting error. When I was shooting well, I was keeping 3/4 of my shots or more in a 2" spot out at 40 yards. I don' t really think I can shoot any better than that, especially without a peep sight on the string.[

It got to the point where I had to ask myself, why should I look for anything else. I was not giving up any speed (Vipers are pretty fast for old timers!), and the bows are plenty quiet enough for hunting.[8D]
BTW, my Vipers are not really that old, 1 and 3 years to be exact. I got them from Archery Direct for a song. The design is old though. I think they were designed in
' 89 or ' 90. That is before Mathews bows even existed, so no one can accuse me of shooting a Mathews clone![8D]
