First of all let me say that you are comparing apples to mangos. You do have to pay more for mangos right? Anyways, there is nothing wrong with H&R rifles. I have one and I did have a problem with it not latching properly so I sent it to the factory and they fixed it right up and sent it back. They stand behind their product and will honor the warranty. Now as for accuracy, it really surprised me. With the 243 Win barrel I can hit a quarter at 100 yards, with the 45-70 Govt barrel I have a big ragged hole. Fit and finish is tolerable for the price you pay. Now the Encore is the ultimae in single shot rifles. I handled one not long ago and the design, fit and finish was just leaps and bounds above, then again so was the price. Comes down to money and personal preference. I don' t see paying so much more for the Encore when I am happy with my H&R.
