The Wildviews are good for exactly what you described. They are cheap and you can buy many for the price of a top quality camera. If someone steals it your only out $50 instead of a couple hundred.
The trick is in how you set it up. TheWildviews have a really, really slow trigger time as well as a very weak flash. With that said, you should aim it up or down a deer trail insted of across it. Also, they work well when set up near a food source.
