I have also heard that putting a sandbag between the butt of the gun and your shoulder works well, but that might mess up your eye relief if using a scope. If not you should be OK. Also, even if you are not shooting a semi-auto keep the magazine filled with shells. The extra weight helps the gun absorb some of the recoil.
