ow far do you guys shoot your muzzleloader i am looking at getting one thinking a cva optima also ow long does it take you to reload a ml
I limit my shots to 125-130 yards, firing patched round balls. With the paper cartridges I make containing powder and patched ball, I can reload in about 20 seconds if in a hurry. Using a sabot, it could take longer because starting a sabotted bullet into the bore and ramming it is a lot harder/slower than starting a patched ball. The idea is to kill your quarry with the first shot. I practice this by using a single-shot rifle even during rifle season.....

With a sabot or conical, you can kill game at any range that suits you, IF you can estimate range accurately and know your rifle's trajectory well. Muzzleloaders with the correct load are NOT inaccurate at extended ranges, they just have a tremendously steep trajectory, like a mortar!
