Anybody tried those Artic Shield slip-on boot covers?
I have them, I haven’t tried them yet but going to sit in the stand tomorrow. I was told that the secret to them is you have to put them on right after you get to your stand or blind. If you wait until your feet get cold then the blood is now being shunted away from your feet so your body core temp doesn’t drop (natural response)
Also they are not for walking only sitting, I wish mine has the magnets instead of Velcro I think the new versions due but the hole that your boot fits into is smaller which I don’t understand.
Anyway I will report when I give them a try. They were 45.00 from my outfitter.
Well went out and tried the Arctic Shield Boot insulators and well… my feet froze just like normal. I think I may have had damp boots from 2day earlier since I did break through the ice while scouting around for a good tree stand spot.
I am going to try them again and make sure my feet are dry before I put them on. Man I was really hoping these would work. The temp was about 15 degrees this AM and got up to around 30 for the high.
I guess I may have to look for a different pair of boots since my Rockys are nearing 10 years of age and definitely show it.
I don’t have poor circulation but the veins in my feet are very superficial (close to the surface) and I think that is why I lose so much heat through my feet. Should I go La Cross or stay with the Rocky/Stalker type boot?
