hi guys,
new to muzzleloading dont know much about it. I just bought a cva wolf and i was wondering if it possible to shoot lead balls out of the gun or is it just sabots.
thanks for the help
Patched balls shoot best from slow-twist barrels, BUT it is worth trying. If you can get good accuracy with 60 grains of FFg or Pyrodex RS (or the equivalent using some other substitute) your MV will be high enough to shoot deer out to perhaps 60-70 yards. In addition, with that twist, you can shoot full bore-sized pure lead conicals of almost any weight you want. Like 444 grains for elk! Try a Power Belt of 295-grains with 70-80 grains of powder. It should work well for deer.

In any case, you can shoot patched round balls for plinking and target practice using 40-50 grains of powder.
