RE: HNI anonymous meeting
I'm a fairly solitary hunter, well, other than when I can get my 15 yr old to go out with me. He's at the age of discovering the fairer sex, and he's into dirt bikes, so I wouldn't ever force him to go. He goes when he likes, and he's taken a few nice deer. I did take my buddies 14yr old to hunters ed class a couple ofyears ago. I'm sure to get him in the woods each year, as his dad doesn't hunt, and it paid off this season, as he killed a nice 8 point from the ground for his first deer, with a single shot frommy son's 20 ga.The look on that kids face, and the amount of pride and accomplishment he radiatedwas worth a million bucks. Most of the guys I use to deer hunt with have their own thing going now, with clubs consisting of family members, or one club of guys on the eastern shore consists of mainly bachelors, or guys with no kids. Let's just say that, while they're all pretty good guys, I don't want my kids around them when they get to carrying on. I took my son with me to the shore when he was just 10 years old, and when I asked to President of the club to tone down his intoxicated outbursts, his reply was something to the effect of "Don't bring the boy here if you don't want him to hear it!" The guy has never had any kids, and it's probably a good thing. Some people just don't get it. Anyway, what I'm getting at, is I don't have a digital camera, sowhile I don't often contribute to these threads, I'm here, every day, listening to what GMATT or Frailey or Rob PA saw that day, or what Davidmil's doingat his newhome in NY. After a few years, It seems like I know some of you guys better than the guys I use to hunt with, and you're all a bunch of class acts. Not just as hunters, but as real people, as you share the ups and downs of your lives on these threads. I'll leave this site many nights laughing my butt off, and some nights with a tear in my eye.I'm thankful for this site, and to be able to come here "to deer camp," and listen to the goings-on. Sorry for being so long winded, but that's why I come here.
