I am not real fond of the lever guns.. Just can't ever get a real good trigger on them.. I like that they are usally short barrelled. But I can get that in a Ruger Compact or Model 7 bolt action.. All that being said I do like the new Marlin 308 express with the laminate stock
Your right about the triggers. Marlins built in trigger slopcan be fixed by replacing the trigger with a Wild West trigger. This aftermarket trigger costs about 80.00 and will remove all the slop and take it from a 7lb. pull to a 3lb. pull.
