Default Muzzleloaders and Wet Weather

My old Staghorn was in the cold and freezing rain for about three hours while hunting last Sunday. It did have tape over the muzzle. Brought it home, wiped the rain off, greased up the exterior and ran a patch down the bore.

After mulling it over for a few days i decided to unload it. The two Pyrodex pellets appeared to bedry. When the sabot waspushed out there waswater in the bullet cup: About four drops worth. This is the tight fitting short black .44 caliber sabot.

Boththe pellets immediately lit off when touched with amatch.
