RE: Handi rifles or encore
Everyone has an opinion and this is only mine. I had a H&R single shot and again i say i had. The experience i had with mine wasn' t a good one.The only way i solved the problems i had with it was i sold it. To begin with the accuracy wasn' t good with factory loads or handloads unless your ideal of accuracy is 2" at 100yds but it isn' t for me. Next the cases would stick after i shot the gun which was a real pain in the *ss. I sold mine to a guy who is a gunsmith and he said it appeared that the chamber was slightly oversized but he still bought it for the price i let it go, i guess he can fix it. I tried all kinds of loads, had a trigger job done on it, floated the barrel, bedded the scope rail, and just to be sure it wasn' t me i had a couple of guys who i consider great shots to shoot it with the same results. I agree these guns are inexspensive but i got cheap results as well. I was trying to cut corners and save money so i bought the H&R. If i ever buy another single shot it will definately be the Encore. I' ve never shot an Encore but i handled one after i sold my H&R and like already mentioned you can feel and see the difference in quality like night and day. I agree the price tag is alot higher but you also get a better quality gun. Maybe i just got a bad one or something. Again this is only my opinion as i' ve heard other people praise these guns and say they were great rifles for the price it' s just that mine wasn' t. God Bless!
